Some people might consider Lego a children’s toy, but there are plenty of Lego sets for adults, or, at least, intricate and detailed enough for adults to enjoy too. There are also a lot of different types of Lego sets, from original concepts to specific genres and even sets based on movies and TV shows. So, I thought I would write some posts highlighting some awesome Lego sets based on different interests. For my first post about Lego, here’s a list of Lego sets based on video games.

There are some really cool sets, but some of them get pretty pricey. So, what I’m going to do is add a variety of prices. A few of these Lego sets based on video games might be a bit high; those are the more fancy sets, but I’ll also add in some more reasonable choices.

Sonic the Hedgehog™ – Green Hill Zone

This 1125-piece set for ages 18 and up features the iconic Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog, released back in 1991. It has palm trees, the famous loop, a lever-activated spring, and golden rings. It comes with a Sonic figure and buildable Dr. Robotnik, Moto Bug, and Crabmeat.

According to reviews, it’s detailed and accurate for the game and great for display as well. It’s 7 inches in height, 14 inches wide, and comes with a display piece.

Great Deku Tree 2-in-1

This Lego set is pretty expensive, but it looks so cool. This 2500-piece set based on The Legend of Zelda comes with Princess Zelda and three different figures of Link. It comes with two different versions of the Deku tree and a variety of different pieces from various games like Ocarina of Time, Master Sword, and Hylian Sheild. It also comes with Link’s house.

It’s 13 inches tall in total and has posable facial features. From the information I see on Lego’s own website, it’s customizable. You also get the new Lego Builder app along with it, which you can use to zoom in on a 3D model of the set, track your building progress, and save different versions of the set.

The Crafting Table

This Minecraft set has 585 pieces, so it’s a bit smaller than the two I’ve already mentioned. The facade of the model is the video game’s crafting table, and it comes with five smaller models that you can display inside the crafting table in a variety of different ways.

There are 8 different figures, including Steve, Alex, a creeper, a skeleton, a cow, a pig, and a villager. Lego’s website says there are a lot of hidden Easter eggs in this set and stickers with in-game phrases.

Fly with Dodo Airlines

This Lego set is only 292 pieces and is technically available for ages 7 and up, so it’s a much easier set than the ones I’ve mentioned above and mostly geared towards kids. But if you’re an Animal Crossing fan, you’ll love this. It comes with a control tower, a jetty, an airplane, and two Animal Crossing figures, Wilbur and Tangy.

It’s a bit smaller than the others, only 5 inches high and 10.5 inches wide, probably because it’s more for kids, but it still looks like you could display it if you really wanted to. It’s cute, and I know any Animal Crossing fan would love it.

Donkey Kong’s Tree House Expansion Set

This 555-piece Lego set is meant to be added to an interactive set of either Mario, Luigi, or Princess Peach. But since it’s Donkey’s Kong’s Tree House, I feel adults could buy this for themselves if they just want to enjoy putting together and displaying a Lego set for Donkey Kong.

It comes with two buildable figures, Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong, and a detailed tree house with a secret compartment. This set is for ages 8 and up and meant to be an expansion set with other Super Mario legos, but you could always buy those sets as well, and some of them look great for display also (like Princess Peach’s Castle).

Battle Bus

The Battle Bus is a new Lego set based on Fortnite, and it is on pre-order with a shipping date of October 1. It’s 954 pieces and geared towards ages 10 and up. The website doesn’t mention too much about it yet, but from what I can see in the pictures, it comes with nine figures that you can place inside the battle bus.

Super Mario World™: Mario & Yoshi

This 1215-piece set is another 18+ model for Mario. It’s a large display model, 15.5 inches high and 10 inches wide. It features pixelated Mario riding on Yoshi’s back. There’s also a handle you can turn to make Yoshi run and a dial that’ll make his tongue pop out.

This is another new item and can be pre-ordered right now on Lego’s website, with a shipping date of October 1. It also has an interactive feature where, if you have the right Mario, Luigi, or Princess Peach set, it’ll have a digital interactive experience.

Sonic the Hedgehog™: Knuckles & Shadow

This set is for ages 10 and up and has 298 pieces. It’s not as detailed as the other sets, as it’s just buildable Knuckles and Shadow. But honestly, they are super cute, and from the pictures I see of the set, they are great as collectibles to display if you’re a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Lego also has other sets of buildable characters, like Sonic and Tails, so you could get all four of them and display the whole gang. They are 2 inches tall, so not very big, but the perfect size if you want to place them around your room or computer desk and show off your Lego sets based on video games.

PAC-MAN Arcade

This one’s one of the more expensive Lego sets on this list, but it’s pretty cool-looking. It’s 2651 pieces, and yes, it’s Pac-Man. It looks like an actual arcade game, with a joystick and an illuminating coin slot. You can’t actually play the arcade game on it, but it does have a mechanical maze that’ll simulate the game.

It also comes with a mini arcade scene and rotatable Pac-Man, Blinky, and Clide figures that can either be placed on top of the arcade model or you can have them separately. It’s 12.5 inches high and 10 inches wide.

Nintendo Entertainment System™

This one’s another expensive Lego set, but I had to put it on the list because it’s really cool-looking. It’s 2646 pieces and is literally a Lego TV and an original Nintendo console with a controller and game cartridge. You can even put the game cartridge into the console and attach the controller too.

There’s also a display of the classic Mario game on the TV screen that, when you turn the handle, causes Mario to move. It’s 8 inches high and 9 inches wide and can be displayed wherever you want. Also, if you have or get the Lego Mario figure and place him in the slot at the top of the TV, he’ll react to enemies, obstacles, and power-ups on the screen.
