Valentine’s Day is coming up at the end of this week. So, I thought I’d write at least one post fitting for the holiday. Whether you’re spending time with someone or not, you might still want to add a little bit of love. If you want something to do that day, check out this list of 10 romance movies to watch on Valentine’s Day.
13 Going On 30
Jenna Rink is a 13-year-old frustrated with the social hierarchies of teen life, who wants to be an adult already. On her 13th birthday, her best friend Matt gives her special wishing dust. When she wishes to be 30, she finds herself waking up as a 30-year-old adult. However, her adult life isn’t exactly as she hoped it would be.
The Proposal
Margaret Tate is a Canadian working as an editor-in-chief in the United States on a visa. When a visa violation means she’ll be deported to Canada and lose her job, Margaret convinces her assistant, Andrew, to marry her so she can get a green card. He accepts, but she has to come with him to meet his family.
When in Rome
Beth is an art curator in New York who visits Rome to attend her sister’s wedding. While at the wedding, she hits it off with a reporter named Nicholas, but she sees him kiss another girl. Upset about romance, she picks coins out of the famous Fountain of Love, causing all the men whose coins she took to fall in love with her.
Leap Year
Anna desperately wants a proposal from her boyfriend, but when another year passes and that doesn’t happen, she’s determined to do it herself. With the knowledge of a Celtic tradition where women can propose on February 29, Anna plans to follow her boyfriend to Dublin to propose to him. However, she ends up in the wrong place, and she must get help from an Irishman named Declan to get there in time.
She’s the Man
When the girl’s soccer team at her school gets cut, Viola pretends to be her twin brother so she can attend her brother’s school and join their boy’s soccer team. While there, she develops feelings for her roommate Duke. However, Duke likes Olivia, and Olivia likes Sebastain, Viola’s twin brother, who is actually her.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Brigit is a 32-year-old single woman who works at a publishing company where she fantasizes about her boss, Daniel Cleaver. While at her parent’s New Year party, she meets Mark Darcy, a childhood acquaintance, whose mother wants to set them up. However, they both dislike each other and go on their separate ways. Brigit decides to make some changes in her life after she hears some negative comments from Mark and starts keeping a diary. Her life becomes complicated when both Daniel and Mark affect her love life.
27 Dresses
Jane Nichols has loved weddings ever since she was a kid, to the point that she’s been a bridesmaid in 27 weddings. While she’s running back and forth between two weddings, she meets Kevin Doyle, a writer who is cynical about weddings. After her sister, Tess, returns from Europe, Tess starts to date Jane’s boss, whom she’s had a crush on. The two decide to get married, and Kevin, who turns out to be Jane’s favorite Commitments writer, comes to write a story about Tess’s weddings. However, Kevin is really writing a story about Jane, the girl who’s been a bridesmaid 27 times.
Made of Honor
Tom is someone who is afraid of commitment and thus has dated a lot of people. His best friend, Hannah, returns from Scotland after a work trip with a man who she says she is going to marry. When she asks Tom to be her maid of honor, Tom realizes he’s in love with Hannah and does everything he can to sabotage the wedding.
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Andie Anderson is an advice columnist who decides to write a new piece about how to lose a guy in 10 days. Ben Berry is an advertising executive who believes he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days. He makes a bet with his rivals that if he can, he’ll get an important campaign. His rivals agree, but knowing Andie’s project and seeing her at the bar, they sneakily suggest her as Ben’s target for their bet.
Little Italy
Leo Campo and Nikki Angioli are childhood friends. They grew up together with their families in Little Italy, where their families both own pizza shops. Originally friends, their fathers fight and become rivals. When Nikki returns from overseas, where she was learning how to cook, Nikki and Leo’s friendship blossoms into love. However, their father’s bitter rivalry gets in the way.
