There are some great streaming services out there with tons of content, but a lot of people don’t want to pay for all those subscriptions. Luckily, there are plenty of free streaming services that have just as much content as those you have to pay for. They do have ads and usually don’t have the newest stuff available, but you’ll be surprised at what some of these free streaming services have available to watch. So, here are 8 free streaming services to watch movies and TV series.

Tubi

Tubi is a free streaming service that you can watch on practically any device. You can use your phone, computer, tablet, gaming system, or smart TV. Sometimes you have to download the app, but you can also watch it through a web browser on a computer or phone. There’s no need to sign in unless you want to save your progress.

It has tons of movies and TV shows available to watch. It has some B-movies, but it also has some big, popular movies and shows. Some stuff you could watch on it right now (at the time of my writing) includes Jurassic Park movies, Fast & Furious movies, DC movies and shows, Chucky, The Flintstones, Naruto, and a lot more.

Pluto TV

Pluto TV offers free streaming of live TV and on-demand movies and series. The live TV isn’t the same as what you’d get on cable, but it still has some cool channels. For example, there’s a Pluto channel for Comedy Central, the Addams Family channel, Paramount+ picks, Hallmark movies, IGN, Crunchyroll, and more.

Like I said earlier, it also has movies and TV shows on demand, where you can watch them whenever you want (just with ads). Some examples include Forrest Gump, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Power Rangers, Charmed, and more.

Freevee

Freevee is Amazon’s free streaming service. While Amazon does have their paid Prime Video, Freevee is a free streaming service, just with some ads. It’s also available on most devices, like your phone, TV, gaming systems, and computer. For the computer, you can log into your Amazon account and go to Prime Video, and it’ll give you the free Freevee stuff. It would be nice if you didn’t have to log in, like all the others on this list, but most people probably have an Amazon account nowadays.

Freevee has a variety of movies and TV shows to watch. Some movies include 13 Going on 30, Fast & Furious, Sing 2, Halloween, and more. Some TV shows it has include The Boys, Hazbin Hotel, The Twilight Zone, InuYasha, and more. Keep in mind, though, that sometimes it limits how much you can watch. For example, Freevee lists the new Fallout series on there, but you can only watch the first episode on it right now.

Crackle

From my experience, Crackle has a lot more B-movies than some of the others, but there’s still a chance you’ll find some old stuff to stream here. It’s also free, and you can use it on various devices. It does have ads, as with pretty much all free streaming services (how else would it be free?).

If you don’t mind watching B-movies, it’s a good place for them. But some more well-known TV series it has include Everybody Hates Chris, The Beverly Hillbillies, ALF, and Hell’s Kitchen. There are some movies on there too that, while I don’t recognize the name of the movie, do have some more well-known actors and actresses in them.

The Roku Channel

It might sound like you would need a Roku device for this one, but you don’t. You can download their app or just watch it from a web browser. It has some live TV available, and movies and TV shows you can stream on demand.

There are movies and TV shows like The Mask, 2 Broke Girls, Megamind, I Dream of Jeannie, Home Improvement, Dodgeball, Click, and a lot more. It also lets you watch the first episodes of certain series for free, like Outlander, The Walking Dead Origins, Black Sails, and Interview with a Vampire. It doesn’t give you the whole season of them, but it helps if you’re curious to see if you’d be interested in the series as a whole later on.

Plex

Plex isn’t a streaming service that I’m too familiar with yet, as I just discovered it, but it’s a lot like the others on this list. It also has a live TV option with various channels, some exactly like those on regular cable and others different. For example, it has Ion, the NFl channel, Stories by AMC, PBS Retro, Vice, Filmrise channels, and more.

It also has on-demand movies and TV shows available like Baywatch, Pee-wee’s Playhouse, When Calls the Heart, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, The Age of Adaline, American Psycho, and a lot more. It also has cartoons and anime.

The CW

I’m actually pretty surprised about this one, but The CW lets you stream on their website or download their app for free, just with some ads. You can watch a bunch of CW shows on there, like Warehouse 13, Grimm, The Gifted, and more. However, it does appear that some series may not have all their episodes or seasons, so it’s important to check before you watch.

They also have a live TV option with various channels, much like Plex and Pluto TV did. For instance, Filmrise, the Ghost Hunters channel, Crunchyroll, Cinevault, Total Crime, CW Gold, and more.

Sling Freestream

Sling TV, which you’ve probably heard of by now, also has its own free streaming service. It’s much like a lot of the rest on here, where there’s an option for some live TV as well as on demand. You can go through their guide and see channels like USA Today, TIME, TMZ, Crime+, Movie Sphere, Filmrise, and others.

In their on-demand section, they have various movies, TV shows, cartoons, and anime. You could watch The Boondocks, Rick and Morty, The Three Stooges, Ultraman, Iron Chef, Bonanza, and more, all for free.
