There are tons of comedy anime available, and everyone’s sense of humor is unique. However, here’s a list of comedy anime that my friends, family, and I thought are the funniest we’ve seen so far.
School Rumble
Second-year high school student Tenma Tsukamoto wants to express her feelings to her crush, Oji Karasuma. Delinquent Kenji Harima attends school simply to be near Tenma, with whom he is in love. His repeated attempts to express his feelings to her lead to amusing misunderstandings between them and everyone around them.
Hinamatsuri
Yoshifumi Nitta is a member of the yakuza, but his life is altered when a young girl named Hina stumbles into his apartment while inside a big egg-shaped object. She also possesses psychokinetic abilities. She utilizes her skills to aid him in a yakuza battle, and as a result, Nitta lets her stay in his apartment and eventually adopts her. But Hina is an odd girl, and her presence throws Nitta’s life into disarray. When additional females from the future show up, the situation only becomes worse.
Ouran High School Host Club
A dedicated student, Haruhi Fujioka, has only recently enrolled at the prestigious, upper-class Ouran Academy. In pursuit of a quiet place to study, Haruhi wanders into a host club and unintentionally damages a vase there. She is poor and unable to pay for the broken vase. Since she is wearing a male uniform and has short hair, the president assumes she is a guy and forces her to work as a host in order to pay off her debt. Despite learning of her true gender, the club and Haruhi continue the ruse so she can repay her debt as a host.
KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!
Kazuma Satou, a high school student and recluse, finds himself in front of a goddess named Aqua after dying on his way back from buying a game. She gives him the choice of ascending to heaven or reincarnating in a fantasy world. Kazuma, who has chosen to start a new life, is quickly tasked with defeating a demon king. But before he leaves, he can choose one item of any kind to help him, and he chooses Aqua. However, Aqua proves to be completely useless, and living in such a world turns out to be very different than he expected. Rather than embarking on an exciting adventure, Kazuma and Aqua must seek employment to survive and have a place to live.
Spy X Family
Twilight is a secret agent whose most recent task demands that he have a wife and a child. He assumes the identity of Loid Forger and takes in Anya, a small child with telepathy who knows his identity. She is also aware that her mother, the person Loid chose to be his fictitious wife, is an assassin who is hiding in the fictitious family to avoid being discovered by the authorities. While they all strive to conceal their secrets from one another, they eventually become closer as Anya makes every effort to support her father by enrolling in Eden Academy in the hopes that she will give Loid the chance to meet his target.
Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War
Shuchiin Academy’s top student and student body president is Miyuki Shirogane. Vice President Kaguya Shinomiya is from a rich family. Both are admired by their peers and viewed as the ideal couple. Despite their love for one another, they are not a couple because whoever confesses first will be viewed as the inferior partner. Both are reluctant to make the first confession. Thus, their struggle to persuade one another to confess starts.
Space Dandy
Dandy travels through space in search of strange aliens to fund his visits to his favorite restaurant, BooBies. Dandy’s job takes him into dangerous situations, romantic misadventures, and strange scenarios with QT, the vacuum cleaner robot, and Meow, an alien with a cat-like appearance, all while avoiding the evil scientist, Dr. Gel of the Gogol Empire.
Fruits Basket (2001)
After her mother is killed in a car accident, Tohru Honda, a young high school student, moves in with her grandfather. However, she leaves when her grandfather begins house renovations. To avoid bothering her friends, Tohru decides to live in a tent in the woods. Tohru discovers Yuki Sohma and his cousin Shigure’s house nearby and moves in after a landslide destroys her tent. Kyo Sohma joins them to live there, and after their first encounter, Tohru learns of the Sohma curse, which states that if they are physically touched by someone of the opposite sex or are in an intense mental state, they will turn into members of the Chinese Zodiac.
