A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about geeky restaurants and bars in the United States. This time, I thought I’d highlight geeky restaurants and bars around the world. Unfortunately, this turned out to be harder than I originally thought it would be. There were a lot of restaurants that I’d thought I’d put on the list, but they have closed. Still, I did find some.

While I like to get most of my information from the websites of these restaurants and bars themselves, obviously, a lot of them are in different languages that I don’t speak. So, I’ll try my best to give you as much accurate information about each place as I can.

Reset Bar

Location:

  • Paris, France

This is a bar in Paris that serves various alcoholic drinks and lets you play a variety of retro games. They have arcade games and console games, including old ones like the NES and Dreamcast, as well as newer ones, a racing simulation game, and a Guitar Hero room.

Inspired by Japan, they also offer karaoke. It looks like they have different events throughout the month, including karaoke nights and Mario Kart. They are also available to reserve for private events.

The Hobbit Pub

Location:

  • Southhamton, England

The Hobbit Pub is a Tolkien-themed pub in England. They also have a live music venue. While the pub used to even name its drinks after characters from The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings novels, they were issued a cease-and-desist from Middle-earth enterprises.

Stephen Fry and Ian McKellen criticized the move, and the pub was eventually allowed to use the Hobbit name for a license fee, which both actors offered to contribute to help pay.

Pokémon Cafe

Location:

  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Osaka, Japan

This is the first official Pokémon Cafe. They have a variety of different drinks and foods on their menu, all with Pokémon designs. And I really mean that. Their plates are shaped like Pokémon; there’s a curry dish with rice in the shape of Pikachu, and they will draw one into your latte.

Honestly, I wish I could just show you pictures of this place and their food, but I’ve never been there to have my own, and taking any of their pictures from their website would get me in trouble for copyright. But check out their website, and you’ll see what I mean about their food. They also have merchandise you can buy.

H.R. Giger Bar

Location:

  • Gruyeres, Switzerland
  • Chur, Switzerland

The Giger bar was created by H. R. Giger, the artist whose work is featured in the Alien movies, and he made the “Alien” himself. Everything in the bar is modeled after the Alien character designs and biochemical environment aesthetic.

I can’t find anything about their menu or what they offer, but I’m sure they have the standard for bars. There’s also a Giger museum next to the bar in Gruyeres.

Storm Crow Manor

Location:

  • Toronto, Canada

According to their website, Storm Crow is Toronto’s geekiest bar and has various themed rooms and glowing, bubbly cocktails. They have a ton of different foods and drinks, many of which have different themes, including the Dragon Bowl-Z and Saiyan salads.

They offer to host private events in the whole manor or just in one of their themed rooms. Storm Crow Manor also has events of their own, like Tarot Thursdays.

Game of Toast

Location:

  • Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

It’s a little hard for me to find information about this restaurant as they don’t seem to have a website I can find, but according to the reviews it has online, this is a Game of Thrones-themed restaurant.

Judging from those reviews, the food’s American style, like burgers and fries, and they offer large portions. It’s a small place, but most people seem to say the food is good. They also make deliveries.

See-Scape

Location:

  • Toronto, Canada

See-scape is a sci-fi and cyberpunk-themed bar and cafe. They have appetizers like French fries, burgers, wings, milkshakes, and other similar types of food. You can play video games and board games there, including PlayStation, Xbox, and GameCube.

They also have their own shop where you can buy Magic: The Gathering cards, dice, T-shirts, and some board games. It looks like they have various events on certain nights, like Magic Wednesdays and karaoke nights. You can also have your own party there.

Restaurant Nautilus

Location:

  • Putbus, Germany

So, this restaurant is inside a German U-boat and is connected to a hotel. But both the hotel and restaurant are modeled after Captain Nemo’s Nautilus from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne.

I can’t read German, but it looks like they serve fish, fitting for the theme, of course, and do have a colorable kids menu too. They also have live music, cultural performances, and dancing.

Storyville

Location:

  • Melbourne, Australia

You might be able to tell by the name, but this is a fairy tale-themed bar with various cocktails inspired by magic and stories like Harry Potter, Beauty and the Beast, and Alice in Wonderland.

Like many other bars and clubs, they’ll host events like Wonderland Thursdays and the open mic night gala. They have smoking cauldrons, glowing mushrooms on the walls, live DJs, and a dance floor.

Loading Bar

Location:

  • London, England

There are three different locations in London for this place: Stoke Newington, Peckham, and Brighton. It looks like each of them has some slight differences in what games they have available to play, but all three are bars where you can buy food and drink and then play games for free.

There are console video games, arcade games, and board games. Drinks are based on video game franchises, but they can be customized. There’s no need to reserve or book a space either, but if you’re worried about them running out of room, you can book a table.

I know there were two countries that I repeated in this list, which I originally didn’t want to do, but finding restaurants or bars that were still open was unfortunately very complicated. If you know of any geeky restaurants and bars around the world, feel free to mention them in the comments.

Have you been to any of these restaurants or bars? Don’t forget to like, comment, share, and subscribe.
