There are tons of locations around the world where our favorite movies were filmed, and many of them are open to the public. If you’re looking for a place to visit this summer, consider some of these movie locations.

Al Khazneh in Petra, Jordan

The Holy Grail can be found in Al-Khazneh. Okay, not really, but it is the location of the Holy Grail in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It’s also a fascinating piece of history known as “The Treasury”.

Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The “Rocky steps,” which Rocky Balboa trained on, are the entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Yes, you can run up and down the steps like he did in the movie. When I visited the museum, there was a bronze statue of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky in front of it. My brother’s friend once met Sylvester Stallone there.

Matamata, Waikato, New Zealand

This is Hobbiton, the fictional home of the hobbits in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The set that was built for all of the films is still available for tours.

Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, England

Oxford Christ Church Cathedral is just one of the locations in England where Harry Potter was filmed. Other locations include Oxford University and London’s King’s Cross Station, where Platform 9¾ is located.

Randy’s Donuts, Los Angeles, California

Iron Man 2 features Randy’s Donuts in Los Angeles, California. Iron Man is even sitting on the giant donut sign while eating his donuts.

Staircase at West 167th Street, Bronx, New York City

The stairs on which Joaquin Phoenix danced in The Joker, a scene that was even depicted on the film’s poster.

Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom, Cambodia

Angelina Jolie visits Bayon Temple in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It’s also a captivating historical site, with a large face carved into the rock.

Point Dume, Malibu, California

The final scene of 1968’s Planet of the Apes takes place at Point Dume. It’s also the location of Tony Stark’s cliffside mansion, a beach party in The Big Lebowski, as well as other TV shows, advertisements, and more. Vincent Price’s ashes were also scattered here.

Hook & Ladder Company 8 Firehouse, New York

This is the actual fire station that served as the Ghostbusters‘ headquarters in the 1984 film. The firehouse also appears in Hitch, Seinfeld, and How I Met Your Mother. It is still in use, and its firefighters were among the first to respond to the September 11, 2001 attacks. It also has its own Lego set, which was released in 2016.

Hanapepe Valley, Kauai, Hawaii

Hanapepe Valley appeared in several scenes in both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. The waterfall seen in Jurassic Park‘s helicopter scene is a real place that you can visit. Hanapepe was also used as the inspiration for the town in Lilo & Stitch
