“Dere types” are various types of personalities in anime. You’ve probably heard of a few of these, but here’s a full list of all the Dere types.
Deredere: Characters who are optimistic and free-spirited. They are vivacious, kind, and considerate. |
Oujodere: A gentle and calmer deredere with a ladylike demeanor. They have a strict exterior but are soft on the inside. |
Jendere: Oujodere’s male counterpart. |
Megadere: They are obsessed with their love interest and display excessive affection for them. |
Tsundere: On the outside, they are cold, rude, and hostile, but on the inside, they are kind and caring, especially to their love interest. |
Yandere: Their love becomes excessively obsessive and possessive, to the point of immoral behavior. They don’t care who their actions hurt, including those they love, because their love is everything to them. |
Dandere: These characters are shy, quiet, and aloof. They can appear emotionless at times, but when they feel at ease, they can become talkative and sweet. |
Kuudere: They are calm, cool, and collected, no matter the situation. They rarely show emotion and, in some cases, are completely emotionless. They do, however, sometimes conceal their true feelings. |
Shundere: They are always sad and depressed, and they usually have no reason to be. |
Bakadere: A character who is or acts stupidly and clumsily. They frequently lack common sense. |
Mayadere: An antagonist in the series who switches sides after falling in love with someone on the good side. While acting as an antagonist, they are dangerous, unpredictable, and aggressive. |
Nyandere: These characters are cat-like, cat-related, or are obsessed with cats and thus act like them. |
Inudere: These characters are dog-like, dog-related, or dog-obsessed, and thus act like them. |
Byoukidere: They are kind, caring, and very sweet, but they suffer from a debilitating physical disease that usually kills them. |
Sadodere: They’re sadists who enjoy teasing and playing with the emotions of their love interests. |
Masodere: They are masochists. They enjoy being humiliated and hurt. |
Sadomasodere: Characters who are sadists and also masochists. |
Hiyakasudere: They enjoy teasing others and flirting with those they like. They act seductively and take pleasure in making others feel embarrassed by their actions and words. |
Goudere: Characters who will go to any length to provide their master with whatever they believe their master desires or requires. They have a highly idealized image of the person they love and will go to extraordinary lengths for them, even when told not to. |
Undere: A yes-man to the one they love, doing everything their loved one says. They are completely reliant on their love interest. |
Hajidere: They become nervous and embarrassed in the presence of their crush, or their shyness worsens in the presence of their crush if they are already shy. |
Bodere: They are shy around their crush but will lash out to hide their feelings. When they lash out, they usually punch their crush, even though they don’t want to hurt the person they love. |
Himedere: A character who regards themselves as a queen or princess and wishes to be treated as such, even if they are not. They are sometimes real princesses. |
Oujidere The male equivalent of a himedere who wishes to be treated as a prince or king. |
Kamidere: They have a god complex, are narcissistic, and arrogant. They believe they are the perfect being and are rude to those they believe are inferior to them. |
Hinedere: Characters who are cynical about the world, arrogant, and cold-hearted. They easily get irritated by others. |
Nemuidere: A character who enjoys sleeping and spends the majority of their time sleeping. They are sluggish, lazy, and sleepy, but they are also sweet and kind. |
Darudere: They are lazy and dull. They don’t like to do anything unless someone they care about or who needs their assistance asks them to. |
Kanedere: Gold-diggers who are attracted to people with money and status. They are greedy, spoiled, selfish, and passive-aggressive. |
Kekkondere: Characters who are overly obsessed with marriage and want to get married right away, even to someone they just met. |
Yottadere: A character who is constantly seen drinking alcohol and carrying some form of alcohol. It is extremely rare for them to be sober. |
Ahodere: A character who is oblivious, blind, and dense to romantic feelings. |
Bocchandere: They are related to the yakuza or mafia and usually act superior to others, bossy, and threatening until they find someone to protect. |
Dorodere: Someone who appears to be nice and sweet but is actually cruel, even to their own love interest. They are dangerous, manipulative, unpredictable, and filled with malice. |
Erodere: These characters are perverted, lustful, and flirtatious until they experience their first love, at which point they become embarrassed and love-struck. |
Onidere: Characters who have a devil or demon complex. They are cruel to people, including their own love interests, but become sweet when no one is looking. They keep their relationships and love lives hidden. |
Gundere: They love guns. |
Usodere: They are cunning, sly, and use tricks and lies to win the hearts of their love interests. They conceal the truth in order to gain something from others. |
Utsudere: These are characters that are sad and depressed for a reason. They are gloomy, distant, and apathetic. |
Uzadere: They’re annoying, dense, and embarrassing, but they’re also energetic and sweet. |
Kichidere: A dangerous, twisted, and insane character who is surprisingly normal and sweet when it comes to love. |
Kiredere: They are rude, mean, aggressive, and harsh to the ones they love, but it is in the hopes that their love interest will improve themselves. |
Kitikudere: These characters behave like bullies. They are impolite, cruel, insensitive, deceptive, and mistreat others, including their love interest. They will even cause physical or emotional harm to conceal their true feelings. |
Zondere: Someone who has turned into a zombie. |
