Star Rating:
Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro season 2 continues the usual antics between Nagatoro and her senpai from season 1. Nagatoro still teases her senpai, but their relationship and romance grow.
To be honest, I enjoyed this season more than the first. This is because the first season was initially hard to watch. Nagatoro’s mocking was harsh in the beginning, but as the season progressed, the teasing got less nasty and more lighthearted. The two of them were clearly becoming friends.
The second season lacks harsh teasing because the two of them have already begun to open up to each other and become friends. Of course, Nagatoro is still toying with her senpai, but this time it’s much more playful.
That said, it also adds to the season’s comedy. Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro season 2 had some very funny scenes that made me laugh even more than the first season. While I thought the first season had some funny moments, it didn’t end up being as funny as I had hoped. However, the second season was just as amusing as I originally thought the anime would be.
We see Nagatoro and her senpai become closer, and their relationship progresses at a good pace. It moves slowly, but not in a bad way. Considering Nagatoro and her senpai’s personalities, the slower pace makes sense. It gives their relationship a more natural and genuine feel. It’s cute and easy to root for.
All of the characters become even more likable as we watch them become kind and nicer to each other. For example, Nagatoro’s friends, while they still tease senpai too, appear to actually consider him a friend, and the teasing is much more friendly.
Nagatoro herself was a little difficult to like at first, with all of her harsh taunting, but she grows on you as you get to know her better. The second season continues this trend. You learn more about her and see her in new situations, which just makes you like her more. It’s difficult to think that she wasn’t always likeable.
Senpai’s character growth is well-written, and there’s a particular aspect (which I won’t reveal or spoil) that I felt was a great way to convey the change in him. However, there was one plot hole regarding him that was minor but initially confusing. However, it had no negative effect on the anime.
Season 2 of Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro was enjoyable and fun to watch. It’s funny, and the character growth and romance are both well-written. It was better than the first season, in my opinion, and it made me want more. I’m hoping for a third season to see more of Nagatoro and her senpai, as well as their relationship. I definitely recommend watching the second season.
