To be honest, I don’t know a whole bunch about Magic: The Gathering. I’ve never played it myself, but my brother is really into it, so every year I do some research and write up a post for the year’s Magic: The Gathering release schedule.

It’s a little hard to write about each set when I don’t know a ton about the game itself, but I always try my best to find as much information as possible for all of you. Here are all the new sets coming out in 2025 for Magic: The Gathering.

Innistrad Remastered — January 24, 2025

Innistrad Remastered is a reprint of all the Innistrad sets, as well as some from non-Innistrad sets just with reimagined artwork. It will contain Commander cards and will be fully draftable. It’s the fourth remastered set for Magic: The Gathering. You can check out some of the cards on Magic: The Gathering’s website.

Aetherdrift — February 14, 2025

Aetherdrift is a racing-themed MTG set. There will be new mechanics and abilities in this set, according to Magic: The Gathering’s own website, and some new card treatments and foils as well.

It’s Standard-legal, and you’ll race with one of ten different teams across three different planes (Kaladesh, Amonkhet, and an unknown third featuring dinosaurs) in the Ghirapur Grand Prix.

Tarkir: Dragonstorm — April 11, 2025

This set returns to Tarkir and is the conclusion to the Dragonstorm Arc. Dragons are all over Tarkir and ripping through the Omenpaths. One of the five clans fights back to keep those dragons from threatening the Multiverse. It’ll feature dragons, of course, and wedge gameplay.

Final Fantasy — June 13, 2025

This MTG set is a crossover with the video game series Final Fantasy and will include pieces from Final Fantasy 1 to 16. It’ll include all your favorite Final Fantasy characters like Lightning, Cloud, and others. It’s standard-legal and draftable.

Edge of Eternities — August 1, 2025

Edge of Eternities is all about fantasy in space. Yes, space, like planets and aliens. It’ll be the final story arc to the Meronome storyline and introduces a region outside of the Multiverse known as the Edge. It will actually have aliens in it, as well as other cool space stuff like spaceships, advanced technology, star fields, and more.

Spider-Man — TBA

This is another collab set, and I’m sure by the name, you can guess what MTG is collaborating with. It’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. It’ll be based on the comics, not the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’ll be standard legal. There’s not really much else about this set yet.

Unannounced Universes Beyond — TBA

Magic: The Gathering will also have another Universes Beyond set coming out in 2025; however, it hasn’t been announced what it’s going to be yet. Obviously, though, the Universes Beyond sets are all collaborations with other IPs, so it’s going to be something like the Final Fantasy or Spider-Man one.

Are you excited about any of these new sets on the Magic: The Gathering release schedule? Don’t forget to like, comment, share, and subscribe.
