Sometimes people like to pepper in some of their interests into their lives as much as they can. So, I thought I would write up a list of 10 merchandise to bring your hobbies into your everyday life. This list features physical product ideas, which will be a bit general, with the intent that you can add specifics regarding your own interests.
Blankets and Towels
Everyone uses blankets and towels. For example, you can get a blanket of Harry Potter. Or if you want to be a little more subtle and go for a product you don’t always use as much, then you can opt for a beach towel from your favorite TV show or anime.
I was walking through the garden section of Home Depot a few weeks ago and noticed some beach towels for sale. I spotted Spider-Man and Pokémon beach towels. Of course, I’m sure those were more made for kids, and they are much more mainstream. But there are tons of other options on Amazon.
Shoes
I’m sure shirts and jackets are obvious, but you can also go for some apparel that’s a little less noticeable. Or that you can wear more often if you’d like. Some designs might be pretty in your face, but there are also shoe options that might be a bit more subtle, as you and other fans might know, but it’s not obvious to others.
A bonus idea that I’ll add under this one is socks. I have Pokémon, Sailor Moon, and Harley Quinn socks, and I love them. Most people don’t notice them if I’m wearing shoes, but I know about them, and it brightens up my day a little bit.
Backpacks and Bags
Bags are another useful option. You might need a bag for school, traveling, conventions, and other occasions. You can have a bag with Harry Potter characters on it, video games, or from your favorite anime.
Don’t forget that there’s tons of different types of bags, from small to large, drawstring, tote bags, messenger bags, makeup bags, etc. There are some great purses out there too. I have a Sailor Moon purse that I always get compliments on.
Pillows and Pillowcases
Here’s another option to decorate your home, bedroom, dorm room, etc. You have two different options for this one. You can get a pillowcase that you can place over your regular pillow, or you can get a pillow itself. You can use them on your bed or even your couch.
Amazon has tons of choices from larger body pillows, regular-sized pillows, and small throw pillows. You can also get some from walk-in stores, depending on what your interests are. Spirit Halloween has some great choices for horror fans or some pillows from Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus or Beetlejuice.
Coasters
If you own your own house or apartment and want to add some of your interests into the decoration of your home, try using coasters. They’re a small product and are useful if you want to keep your tabletops nice.
There are tons of great options for coasters. There are ones for video games, anime, TV shows, comics, and more. Something that is useful is sometimes the best merchandise to bring your hobbies into your everyday life.
Bowls and Cups
Although I said bowls and cups in the secondary heading, this can also include plates, straws, mugs, utensils, and any other types of kitchenware. You’ll see a lot more mugs and bottles available for sale, but there are other options.
My brother bought his friend a Halo dinnerware set. The same company that made that one also has other sets for Star Wars, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, and more. There’s also bowls on Amazon, like in the shape of Luffy’s hat from One Piece, cooking spoons with Star Wars characters, and more.
Computer Accessories
Not everyone needs a bunch of accessories for their computer, but if you’re a gamer or do some other heavy work with your computer, then you might need a lot of extra stuff for your computer. Of course, you can pick your wallpaper that fits your hobbies for free.
But you can also decorate around your computer with desk and mouse pads, wrist support, keyword accessories, headphones, and more. Just pick your hobby and search for some mouse pads or wrist supports for it.
Jewelry
There’s a lot of cool jewelry out there for a ton of nerdy hobbies. I particularly searched for more anime jewelry than for some other fandoms, but trust me, there’s plenty. I have a bracelet with a quote from the Lord of the Rings on it. I also have a necklace of the Fairy Tail guild symbol and Dead the Kid’s actual rings.
The great thing about jewelry is either you can get something that just relates to what you like or sometimes you’ll be able to find actual replicas of jewelry your favorite characters might have (like my Death the Kid rings). Usually, replicas can be used for cosplay, but you can also just wear them whenever you want.
Lanyards and Keychains
Keychains and lanyards can be a cheaper way to show off what you like. If you have house keys or a car, then you can get a keychain of your favorite fandoms to use. Keychains also don’t technically have to be used for keys. I buy keychains and put them all over the place. I have them hanging from my purse, hanging in my room. You can do whatever you can come up with.
Lanyards can also be used for keys or if you like to go to conventions. If your workplace allows it, you can even use them for your ID cards at work. Sometimes you can have both and hang a keychain on a lanyard.
Hats
There are a ton of different styles of hats, but mostly you’ll find some baseball caps or beanies for your fandom. There are so many different hats for anime and other hobbies that you could have a different one for each day of the month.
Also, if you don’t tend to wear hats often, you can still get a hat you can wear when it’s cold outside. Years ago, I was out with my family trying to pick a live Christmas tree from a farm and saw a girl wearing a beanie of Happy from Fairy Tail.
Check out my post on stores you can buy anime merchandise from.
