Spy x Family is an anime series about a spy, codenamed Twilight, who must find a fake family so he can enroll a daughter in Eden Academy in order to get closer to his target, whose young son attends the school. Undercover as Loid Forger, he adopts Anya, a little girl with telepathy, and finds a fake wife, Yor, who is also an assassin. Except for Anya, who can read their minds, they are unaware of each other’s secrets.

This is an adorable, fun, and hilarious anime. The story is entertaining, and the concept is interesting and unique. It’s well-written, and the jokes truly make you laugh. The pacing is perfect, as their transformation into an actual family, even if they aren’t aware of it, just flows really well and feels natural.

The characters, particularly Anya, are the show’s biggest draw. She’s absolutely adorable and lovable. She’s also the most amusing character in the series. She actually provides the majority of the humor because of her talent for mind reading. Even her various facial expressions contribute to her appeal.

Yor’s personality is very different from what I expected. I expected her to be cool but emotionless. She’s still very cool, but far from emotionless. She’s equally as adorable and sweet as Anya, but in a different way. She can kill someone in seconds and easily beat someone up, but she’s clumsy and cute when it comes to social interaction and housework. Yor tries her hardest to be a good mother to Anya, even though she has no idea how. She has an endearing personality, which makes her very likeable.

Loid is a fantastic character as well. He’s more serious and calm than the other two, but even though he takes certain things seriously, some of his actions are simply hilarious to the audience. He works hard and is skilled at his trade. Loid may not know how to be a good father or husband, but he is one.

The character designs in the anime are excellent. They’re all very visually appealing and have great outfits, especially Yor’s dress that she wears as an assassin. Anya is very cute, but she has a variety of expressions that, as I mentioned earlier, add to the comedy. Although the anime is mostly a comedy, there are a few fight scenes that are well animated and look good.

The characters are unquestionably the highlight of Spy x Family. They have wonderful personalities. The anime has great comedy, and if you’re looking for an uplifting, funny anime, you’ll love it. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s shallow because it’s mostly a comedy. It has a lot of heart, and seeing how they grow as a family is endearing and sweet. It’s actually very well-written and has a good plot. I highly recommend it, and I’m excited for the second season.
