Uncharted is a live-action film based on the video game Uncharted. It stars Tom Holland as a young Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Sully, who are on a quest to find Magellan’s lost treasure. I haven’t played any of the PlayStation games in this series, so I’ll be reviewing this movie as a regular movie rather than an adaptation, because I can’t say whether it was a proper adaptation or not.

The main plot is engaging and entertaining. It’s an action-packed adventure with amusing settings, plot twists, and over-the-top scenes. Finding a lost treasure isn’t an original concept, and there are similarities to other adventure and treasure-seeking stories, but that’s part of the appeal. When I chose to watch it, I wasn’t looking for something completely new and different. I wanted something that felt like a mash-up of Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so on.

There are some fantastic visual scenes, especially near the beginning and end. While I’m not familiar with the games, the plane scene (shown in the trailer) appears to be taken directly from the game, which is awesome. The cameo was also fantastic. My favorite part of the film, however, has to be the ending. Although moving the ships the way they did was not realistic, it was an incredible scene to witness. To be honest, I’m not looking for realism when I watch this type of film.

The acting was excellent. I liked the characters’ personalities. Again, I can’t say if they matched the video game characters, and I know that for fans, if they don’t, it can be very annoying, but I thought the personalities I saw on the screen were very likable. The development of Nathan and Sully’s relationship throughout the film felt natural and well-paced, and by the end, I really liked them as treasure-hunting partners. They complemented each other well.

I enjoyed the comedy and the lighter tone of the film. They had some genuine comic relief. While there were some serious parts to the film, there was never a point where things seemed too dire. It’s a good choice to watch when you don’t want to watch something too serious or dark. It’s just a fun movie.

I had a lot of fun watching Uncharted. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good adventure film, especially if you’re looking for some treasure hunting. Video game adaptations have a bad reputation, and as someone who enjoys video games, I can understand why, but I recommend you give this one a shot. It may not be exact, but keep in mind that they are supposed to be younger versions of the characters. The post-credits scene has piqued my interest in seeing a sequel.
