Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the sequel to the first Venom film. It continues where the first movie left off and features Cletus Kasady as Carnage. I enjoyed the first movie, so I expected to enjoy this one as well. I definitely did.

The beginning focuses on Eddie and Venom’s friendship, which I think is one of the best aspects of both movies. Their interactions with one another are always hilarious. They have a unique dynamic. It’s where you’ll find the majority of the comedy. And by “comedy,” I mean genuine laughter.

I haven’t read many Venom or Carnage comics aside from Edge of Venomverse, so I can’t say whether the story line was accurate or not. I have experienced Carnage in some cartoons and video games, though. From everything I’ve seen so far, though, Carnage felt like Carnage. The physical appearances of both Venom and Carnage looked spot on and quite terrifying if you really didn’t know who these characters were.

Woody Harrelson plays Cletus Kasady, and while I don’t know much about Celtus’ personality because I haven’t read many Carnage comics yet, he does an excellent job of portraying a psychotic serial killer. It was a completely different type of character than anything I’ve seen Harrelson do before. I haven’t seen every film he’s been in, though. He also voices Carnage. I didn’t notice that at all, which to me suggests he did a great job of finding a tone that was different than his usual voice. The same goes for Tom Hardy, of course, who also voices Venom.

The action scenes during Venom and Carnage’s fight were well-done. There were some truly stunning visual shots. I liked the shot in front of the mosaic window in particular, but I won’t go into any more detail because I don’t want to spoil anything.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage isn’t particularly deep or thoughtful, but it’s entertaining and funny. The action scenes were shot well, and the acting is good. You’ll enjoy this one if you’re looking for a movie to watch just be entertained and have some fun, especially if you’re a fan of superhero movies. Plus, the mid-credits scene offers you something to anticipate and makes you wonder where the story might go.
