Weekly Recommendations is a post I publish every week on Fridays where I recommend three different kinds of entertainment. These recommendations can include various different types of media, like anime, video games, TV shows, comics, board games, books, and more. They can also vary by genre, intended age of the audience, and release year.
Spice and Wolf
- Anime
- Fantasy, Adventure, Romance
Holo, the wise wolf, is a deity worshipped in the little town of Pasloe, where she blesses the annual harvest. As the villagers become increasingly self-sufficient, she fades into folklore. Holo, no longer required, requests that a traveling merchant, Kraft Lawrence, take her to the north. He agrees after recognizing her potential to help him with his business. Lawrence believes he is getting closer to his dream of owning a shop thanks to Holo’s assistance, but as they travel together and get to know each other better, his dreams might be changing.
Teen Titans (2003)
- Cartoon Series, 65 episodes
- Superhero, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy
This series is based on DC Comics’ Teen Titans. It stars Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg from the Teen Titans. They live in a T-shaped skyscraper. The series includes both serious and funny episodes, which are typically distinguished by the opening song. The comic episodes use a Japanese version of the song, while the serious episodes use an English version. Episodes feature the Teen Titans fighting supervillains, but they also explore the characters’ backgrounds, families, and lifestyles as superpowered teenagers.
Merlin
- TV Show, 5 Seasons
- Medieval Fantasy, Adventure
Merlin, a young man with extraordinary magical talents, is taken to Camelot by his mother. However, magic is not permitted in Camelot, and anyone caught using it will be executed. A dragon informs Merlin that it is his destiny to help Arthur become a legendary king. Merlin and Arthur initially despise each other, but after saving Arthur’s life, Merlin becomes his manservant. Over time, the two become friends, with Merlin aiming to shape Arthur into the king he is meant to be while also hiding his magic.
