Weekly recommendations can include any platform, form of media, genre, type, age, and so on. I’ll be suggesting work from any release year, old or new. Why? Because you just need something to get into from time to time.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun

Kamome Academy is rife with supernatural rumors, the most famous of which are the “Seven Mysteries.” One of these mysteries is Hanako-san, the ghost of a young girl who resides in the girl’s bathroom and is said to grant wishes. Nene Yashiro is a first-year student who summons Hanako-san in hopes that she will grant her wish for love, but the Hanako that appears is a boy who refuses to help her. In order to attract her crush’s attention, Nene swallows a mermaid scale, which transforms her into a fish. Hanako-kun saves her, but it binds the two together, and Nene is forced to work as his assistant. Nene then becomes increasingly entangled in the supernatural world. Ponyo

Ponyo is a goldfish who ran away from home. Sousuke, a small kid who rescues Ponyo from a jar, names her. However, Ponyo’s real name is Brunhilde, and her father is a sorcerer who has abanonded humanity to live underwater. When he finds Ponyo, she rejects him and expresses her desire to become human. She returns to the surface after sprouting arms and legs from the power she gained from licking Sousuke’s blood from a cut. However, the magic causes an imblance and the moon begins to drift out of orbit, causing the tides to become stronger. In order to restore world order and enable Ponyo to live as a human, Sousuke and Ponyo must pass an ancient test.

Young Justice

Young Justice tells an original story about several of DC Comics’ young heroes. The show follows the lives of a group of young superheroes as they form a team to fight supervillains and learn more about themselves and their abilities. Some of the main characters are Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Red Arrow, Artemis, and Miss Martian, with other young superheroes and sidekicks joining them later on.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Tanjirou Kamado’s family is attacked by demons while he is away selling charcoal in town. When he returns, he discovers that his entire family has died, with the exception of his younger sister, who has been turned into a demon. Tanjirou becomes a demon slayer in order to help his sister. He swears to avenge his family and to find a way to turn his sister back into a human again. However, the demon who attacked his family and changed his sister is a strong and deadly demon, and the path to becoming a strong demon slayer isn’t easy. Plus, teaming up with a demon, his sister, is against the demon slayer rules. Tanjirou must work hard to become a strong enough demon slayer to defeat the demon that killed his family, all while protecting his sister from everyone, including herself, as the two of them fight together to keep her humanity.
