Weekly Recommendations is a post I write every Friday where I recommend three different kinds of entertainment. These can include anime, comics, video games, tabletop games, and other similar forms of entertainment. They might also vary in intended audience, age, genres, and themes.
Black Sesame Salt and Custard Pudding
- Manga: 3 volumes
- Comedy, Romance
22-year-old Haruhi, who operates a machine at a construction site, marries a middle-aged guy she met while drunk at a bar. They agree that he will pretend to be her husband in order to prevent her family from forcing her to return home, and he will have a free place to stay until he can find a place of his own.
Hinamatsuri
- Anime: 12 episodes
- Comedy, Sci-Fi, Slice-of-life
Yoshifumi Nitta is a yakuza member whose life is changed forever when a young girl named Hina falls into his apartment inside of a large egg-like container. She’s from the future and also has psychokinetic powers. After she uses her powers to help him in a yakuza fight, Nitta lets her stay at his apartment and eventually becomes her father. However, Hina’s a strange girl, and she causes a lot of chaos in Nitta’s life, which gets worse when other girls from the future appear.
Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game
- Board Game
- Action, Adventure, Deck building, Strategy
In the Marvel Comics board game Legendary, players must work together to win. Players choose five heroes to use during the game, along with a villain and a scheme to defeat. During the game, they have to make their decks, selecting superhero cards that complement their strategies. Those cards will be used to defeat the main villain as well as any side villains. Villains can also impact gameplay by wounding you or capturing bystanders. At the end of the game, players can add up the points they have earned by defeating villains. The winner is the one with the most points. However, even the villains can win in this game.
