Merlin is a young man with extraordinary magical talents who is sent by his mother to Camelot. Magic is illegal in Camelot, and anyone discovered practicing it will be executed. Merlin is told by a dragon that it is his destiny to assist Arthur in becoming a famous king. Although Merlin and Arthur despise each other at first, Merlin eventually becomes Arthur’s manservant after saving his life. The two become friends over time, with Merlin attempting to mold Arthur into a prestigious monarch.

Tendou discovers her deception but allows her to become Houjou Ran anyway, and she devotes herself to protecting her faux spouse with the fighting techniques she learned from the old man when he was still alive.
