Here are my weekly recommendations for this week. This post has three different types of entertainment. They could be old or new, and their intended audience may differ.

Tales of Arise

  • Video game: PC, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, PlayStation 4 & 5
  • Role-playing, Action

Three centuries ago, Rena, an advanced world, attacked and enslaved the people of Dahna, a medieval world. The Renans divided the area into five different realms, each with its own lord. Each lord competes in a contest to determine who will be Renan’s future leader, with the amount of magic taken from the Dahnan people determining the winner. A Dahnan with no memories and the ability to feel no pain, as well as a Renan who causes pain to anybody who comes into contact with her, join the resistance to free Dahna. A video game featuring action and role-playing components with anime-style graphics. You play as predetermined characters, but you can modify their skins and make minor changes to them.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

  • Manga
  • Comedy, Romance, Fantasy, Drama, Isekai

Catarina Claes is the Duke’s daughter. When she hits her head at the age of eight, she discovers she is the villain of an otome game she played in a past life. Catarina is determined to avoid the villain’s fate by improving her farming skills and being nice to everyone she meets. Caratrina’s efforts to prevent her tragic endings make her endearing and captivate all of the other Otome characters.

Ponyo

  • Movie
  • Adventure, Fantasy

A goldfish runs away from home. Sousuke, a small kid who rescues her from a jar, names her Ponyo. But her real name is Brunhilde, and her father is a sorcerer who has abandoned humanity in order to live underwater. When her father finds her, Ponyo rejects him and wishes to become human. She returns to the surface after sprouting arms and legs as a result of the power she obtained through licking Sousuke’s blood from a cut. The magic, however, produces an imblance and the moon begins to move out of orbit, causing the tides to rise. Sousuke and Ponyo must pass an ancient test in order to restore world order and allow Ponyo to live as a human.
