Weekly Recommendations is a post I publish every Friday in which I recommend three different types of entertainment. These recommendations may include anime, comic books, movies, video games, card games, or other similar forms of entertainment.

That Which Flows By

  • Webtoon
  • Historical, Drama, Comedy, Romance

Dani is a Jurchen girl who took over her grandfather’s tea house after he passed away. She is saved by General Gyeol Seo when bandits attack the tea shop, but the general is said to slaughter Jurchen people of any gender or age. Dani, afraid of dying, lies about where she came from, and Gyeol chooses to return her to Hanyang. However, due to a family tragedy in his childhood, Gyeol is unable to drink clear water and must instead rely on tea to stay hydrated. So he employs Dani to serve him tea every day. Dani must now hide her true origins for fear of being killed, but Gyeol has many enemies who are willing to use his servants against him.

Ouran High School Host Club

  • Anime, 26 episodes
  • Comedy, Romance

Haruhi Fujioka is a dedicated student who has recently enrolled at Ouran Academy, a prestigious school for the wealthy. Haruhi wanders into a host club looking for a quiet space to study and accidentally damages a vase, but she is poor and unable to pay for the damage. She is forced to work as a host in order to repay her debt when the president mistakenly assumes she is a man because she wears a male uniform and has short hair. Despite realizing her true gender, the club and Haruhi keep up the charade so she can repay her debt as a host.

Rave Master

  • Manga, 35 volumes
  • Comedy, Fantasy, Adventure

Fifty years ago, wielders of sacred Rave stones fought in a war triggered by Dark Bring demon stones. As a result, the “Overdrive” explosion took place, putting the Dark Bring to sleep and spreading Rave fragments all over the world. Haru Glory lived quietly on Garage Island until he encountered the creature Plue. Plue is subsequently identified by Shiba Roses, the original Rave Master. Shiba says that the Dark Bring has returned and that the Rave is vital to stopping it. However, the villainous organization Demon Card attacks Shiba, and he transfers Rave’s power to Haru. Haru, the new Rave Master, sets out to find the scattered Rave fragments, meeting new friends along the way who will assist him on his adventure.
