Weekly Recommendations is a piece that I write every Friday in which I recommend three different kinds of entertainment. These could include anime, comic books, television shows, books, video games, and other related media.

MySims Agents

  • Video Game: Wii, Nintendo DS
  • Life Simulation, Adventure, Mystery

In the Wii version of the game, the player takes on the role of a special agent attempting to solve cases and riddles throughout several countries in order to stop Morcubus and his organization, Morcucorp, from carrying out their evil plot. In the DS version, the player assumes the role of an undercover agent seeking to stop a thief from taking the town’s secret treasure.

Ready Player One

  • Book
  • Action, Adventure, Science Fiction

People in a dystopian future use OASIS, a virtual reality, to escape the real world. Following the death of its creator, a gaming challenge is issued in which whoever discovers the golden egg hidden within the game wins ownership of OASIS. The game requires you to gather three keys after completing three different challenges to unlock the gate that protects the golden egg. The CEO of Innovative Online Industries wants to take control of OASIS so that he can integrate obtrusive online advertising into virtual reality. Other players seek the egg as well, including orphaned teen Wade Watts, known as Parzival, who is the first participant to win the first key and wants to prevent the CEO of IOI from taking possession and ruining OASIS.

Say “I Love You”

  • Anime, 13 episodes
  • Comedy, Drama, Romance

Mei Tachibana decides she no longer needs friends after her so-called friends wrongly accuse her of causing the death of a class pet. She withdraws from everyone, hoping to never be hurt again. After a misunderstanding, Yamato Kurosawa, the school’s most popular boy, wishes to be Mei’s friend. She tries to ignore him, but Yamato kisses Mei when she asks for his help. She develops feelings for him, and when they find their feelings are mutual, they begin dating, but this introduces Mei to a world of friendship and love she has never known.
